School photography at St Edmund's school in Canterbury
The majority of pictures were going to be indoors, which was good sign as the heavens opened just after the prep photos had been taken outside, the large wooden door and reception entrance gave some good cover for the two children peering around the door. The boarding pictures were to show the students in uniform and casual wear in the bedrooms and common room areas, some fill in flash was required to lift the lighting indoors. Afterwards it was in the classrooms with the juniors covering games, reading and other activities. These images would be small in the brochure so had to be quite tight with the flexibility of the designer being able to crop the photos as square images as well. The 50mm meant no flash was needed and the large windows gave a good amount of natural light, a couple of shots were staged, mainly the girl writing with the quill as this would be the cover photo for the leaflet, all of the others were natural with the children oblivious to the camera.
