Photography for the Canterbury Christ Church University annual report photography
After I had finished Colette's photos it was back in to Canterbury to meet up with Nik from Design and Print, always good to have a designer with you as they know exactly what they are after and where the photo will fit in with the artwork they are compiling together. We had a small spot set up on the third floor of Augustine House, same set up as last week where we were shootong the subjects against a plain white backdrop, with loads of natural even light coming in from the tall glass windows no additional lighting was required at all. With a variety of students and lecturers arriving we covered a mix of sitting and standing poses, enough variety for Nik for when he composes the images together for the front cover. A few additional portraits were required of two students which would be used for a centre spread, taken wide and with negative space to one side would allow for the text to accompany the article.
After lunch we then covered a mix of set ups with the nursing students in Christ Church's medical training centre, a mix of natural and off camera flash was required for these portraits. Back over to Augustine House now and the last person to photograph was student union president Silvia Rasca, two set ups for these portraits, the first was the white backdrop and the second another double page spread which required space for text, downstairs in the lobby area were the I zone desks which had a nice mix of neon lighting going on in the background, with Silvia sitting down and one off camera speed light to camera left this created a nice mix of flash and ambient light from the background. After a long day all of the annual report portraits were completed, now off to edit them for first thing tomorrow morning.
