BMW Z1 CAR MAGAZINE PHOTOGRAPHY

10/11/2020
The BMW Z1 is the first model in BMW's line of Z series roadsters (two-seater convertibles), and was produced in limited numbers from 1989 to 1991. The Z1 is unique for its plastic body panels and vertically sliding doors which drop into the door sills. It is one of the first BMWs to use a multi-link rear suspension. The trio today were in various colours and were perfect examples of this quirky designed car that has developed a cult following, it still looks fresh to this day and will be a future classic in years to come.

The location was Stapleford Park hotel, set in the beautiful Village of Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire. We had some early morning rain which cleared up lunch time and after the owners dried off the cars I set about covering some single photos and then a variety of two and three car shoots, the one I was after came off a treat with Darren's red Z1 framed by the other cars, lighting either side by a pair of Profoto lights and a dabble of sunshine.

The full shoot and article will be in a forthcoming issue of BMW Car magazine, thanks to Darren, Ivor and Roger for making the time to bring the cars along and for Stapleford Park hotel for th warm welcome, once we get back to normal visit them for an overnight stay and use their fine dining restaurant its truly spectacular.
