BLOG 2018

The Hilton Bankside hotel in London hosted the 26th year of the The London institute of Banking and Finance Pro Share awards, and my 12th year of covering them. The venue is in the Southwark district of London and with just under 500 guests was going to be a busy evening for myself and colleague Alan...
The photography coverage is to document the build up to the evening with guests arriving, the pre dinner speeches, this year hosted by TV personality Vernon Kay. The main evenings photography is to capture the all important awards, covering the jubilation as the winners are greeted by Vernon and then the posed for group photographs with the awards. The location of the stage was perfect as I had a lot of flexibility in my location and the bright and glittering stage display provided a great backdrop of tower blocks at night in which to capture the awards winners for their photograph with Vernon and Gabbi Stopp, the chair of Pro Share.

The second set of awards takes place in the same venue tomorrow, this time celebrating the Financial Innovation Awards when Vernon's wife Tess Daly, host of BBC's Strictly Come Dancing will be comparing the event again. Kit wise I had the full frame D4S with the 70-200mm and 50mm 1.4 lens and the full frame D850 with 14-24mm wide zoom on, between them they covered candids, group photos and some of the wider interior and exterior photographs. It was also the first outing for the Profoto A1 on and off camera portable studio flash, initial results are superb, capable of producing natural looking images with the TTL facility bringing in just enough ambient light
