St EDmund's School carol service at Canterbury Cathedral
The Cathedral was full to capacity with proud parents and family members in attendance for the St Edmund's carol concert. I had located a spot at the front of the venue where I was discreet and not impeding anyone's view at all. The brief was to capture as much as possible with the restricted view that I had.I knew that with a variety of lenses I could capture a good variety of images from the 60 minute concert. The main lens was the 135mm F2 lens which never ceases to amaze me, such an underrated lens but superb in conditions where their is a mixture of artificial light. The toughest part of the event to photograph was when the lights dimmed and the children lit candles for the congregation, by pushing the ISO up to 3200 and using manual settings of 1/80 @ F2 I was able to capture some atmospheric photos from the service. The service was over just after 8.30pm and I had a nice range of images from the event, quite a testing shoot due to the position that I had and with the mix of light variations which made it even more enjoyable.
