PROFESSOR MARK HAMMOND PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHY CANTERBURY

Mark turned up at the lecture theatre just ten minutes prior to his talk, so not much time to get any set up portraits. I used a few varied backdrops in the theatre and the two I have posted are varied, always good to have a mix of portrait and landscape images along with different expressions from the sitter. The designers then have a choice of photos to choose from depending on the mood of the editorial as well as a clean back drop for text layout and a selection of colourful background images if it is going to be used in a smaller context. I used the 50mm 1.2 lens in manual mode, the light in the theatre is a mix of tungsten and halogen lighting so a wide open aperture works well to lift the artificial lighting, underexposed on most images by 0.33 to give a biot more definition to the image and then just lightened the RAW file according to the background.
