The Netline spectacles range of products
The hardest product photography to cover are items with a reflective surface, so spectacles fits in to one of those categories! The initial photographs for the range were straight on images, as seen in the bottom photo. Two lights were used, one from the side which didn't then reflect on to the glass, and a second one under the still lfe table, with its transluscent infinity curve the light works as backlighting and eliminates any shadows, settings for both lights were 1/2 power (150 watt studio lights), 1/80th of a second @ F10 and ISO 100. The lighting varied slightly depending on the frame colours so their may have been some adjustments on the aperture. I also covered some more abstract images with a multi coloured LED light (many thanks to Kevin for loaning me this great piece of equipment). These were on 1/2 second exposures at F7.1, a little hit and miss in places depending on which colours worked with certain frames. The client has seen the pictures and has asked me to cover some more "floating" shots, the one on the top left shown is a very simple shot, glasses upside down and with the same lighting set up, you then flip the image 180 degrees and presto, floating spectacles!
