IFS PRO SHARE & FINANCIAL INNOVATION AWARDS 2011

Fred Mcauley & Dominic Holland at the IFS awards
I met up with London based photographer Lucy Williams who I have now covered this event with for the last three years, we work out which areas we are going to cover so we don't replicate each others shots, I stuck with a 50mm, 135 and the 17-40mm lenses, working with two cameras makes these events easier and apart from a few candid images with flash everything was taken with the ambient light. The 50mm and 135 are great lenses for these events with them wide open they produce natural looking images without the need for flash, meaning that I can be discreet as possible. The compare for the evening was comedian and TV star Fred Mcauley who done a great job of entertaining everybody before the awards. Their are more awards on Thursday evening so Wednesday was a good channel to work out the space that we had available, not much as the tables were close together so the 17-40 and 50mm lenses worked well in close proximity to the stage.

The investor finals followed on Thursday evening and with a similar format to the previous evening, just double the awards presented. The host was another comedian Dominic Holland whose stand up routine was hilarious. Once the awards were over the final photo required was of all of the winners, always a difficult one to get everybody together on the stage but with a bit of height from a nearby chair and the 17mm end of the 17-40 everybody fitted in to the shot.
