CHRIST CHURCH UNIVERSITY PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHY KENT

27/10/2011
Lea, Masi & Jackie
The photography covers two stages, portraits of the lecturers/students in the work place and also a selection of scholars against a clean backdrop as this is then going to be used for the front cover, creating a montage of the five people relaxing and looking at the camera. Lea Somorcikova is a previous Christ Church student who has been working for The Wooden Spoon company in Wye, they produce preserves in house and export across the UK.

Next stop was back over to Canterbury to cover historian Jackie Eales and lecturer Masi Noor, I had taken their portraits earlier in the year for the Christ Church quarterly magazine, Inspire. Jackie's was to take place against a back drop of a tapestry which was housed in the chapel at St Martin's Priory, one single speed light (1/4 power) off camera was enough to give an even amount of fill in flash as the natural light coming through was very flat and soaked up by the dark wooden panels in the room. Masi's photos were to take place at Augustine House in the lecture theatre, the walls are a clinical white and with the addition of a bright purple chair gave a good contrast for the front cover, Nik the designer at CCCU will then cut out each of the five lecturers and create a montage on the front cover, making it look as if they are all in the same room. It would have been nice to cover the shot in one go with all five people present but due to schedules this was not possible, the remainder will be covered next week.
