MOTOR SPORT DAY PHOTOGRAPHY AT BROOKLANDS MUSEUM
16/10/2011

Motor sport day at Brooklands in Surrey
Due to the great weather and a wealth of amazing cars on display the day was full of motoring enthusiasts. The show stopper as mentioned was the Benetton F1 car, looking rather small compared to the current crop of GP cars, the icon livery still looked great twenty years on. Other cars on display included rally cars, touring cars, Le Man races and a host of Ferraris, the 166 making another welcome appearance after it's display at the museum in Auto Italia back in April. At mid day it was time for the cars to do some laps around the Mercdedes Benz circuit, some glorious cars graced the track, after some photos of the Benetton along side Concorde it was time for the F1 star to make an appearance, it still looked great and sounded superb, not often a batch of Lamborghinis and Ferraris can look or sound subdued.
With two cameras working in unison it made the coverage of the day easier, the 70-200mm capturing candids and details shots and the 17-40mm covering the wider venue photos. For the action images on the track I panned with the 70-200mm capturing these amazing cars in full flow, great to see a Metro 6R4 and a Sierras Cosworth as well. Another great day at this motoring institution, looking forward to the next two photography courses in October and November, still places available for Sunday 27th Novembers course.
