RANGE ROVER EVOQUE PHOTOGRAPHY AT BROOKLANDS

The new Range Rover Evoque
The model I drove was the top of the range 2.0 litre turbo petrol model Dynamic coupe with 20" alloys, full leather, sat nav and Meridian hi fi system the car looked superb, with the black roof and contrasting white paintwork. The car is not intended to replace the Freelander,it is more compact and Range Rover expects 80% of it's sales to come from new customers to the brand. The dealerships are typically seeing customers coming in with Golfs, BMW convertibles and estate cars rather then four wheel drives, this car still has great off road ability but had the feel of a hatchback in terms of it's ride and performance but with the typical Range Rover refinement inside. Boot space is good with easy access and the rear legroom is spacious, although a little cumbersome to get in and out of quickly, a five door version is available and will take most of the sales initially.
I was impressed with the overall drive of the car, it gained many admirers especially when it was parked up at Brooklands. The 240 bhp turbocharged engine gives the car a hot hatch feel and partnered with the sequential gearbox it works a treat with incredibly smooth gear changes for a heavy car. On a 180 mile round journey the Evoque averaged 32 mpg, not bad for a four wheel drive automatic. I would look at the 190 bhp diesel though as it will give great economy and has impressive mid range torque. On to photographing the car, it works from every angle, with the large rear exhaust surrounds and 20" alloys it gives off a sportier stance then any other four wheel drive vehicle on the market today. The images today are essentially for artwork to go in to a newly refurbished Land Rover dealership, so a few abstract photographs were also taken as abstract images work really well on canvas. After covering a mix of photos with off camera flash and the close up interior images with the 100mm macro lens it was then time to leave Brooklands and take the car back to Barretts Land Rover in Canterbury. I thoroughly enjoyed driving the Evoque and seeing the level of interest that the dealers are experiencing can see this being a massive success for Land Rover, if you fancy taking a test drive then contact Barretts of Canterbury on 01227 475475 or Barretts Ashford on 01233 506070
