INTERIOR FURNITURE PHOTOGRAPHY UNIVERSITY OF KENT CANTERBURY

12/09/2013
An overcast day helped with the lighting in the rooms and the first set of photographs on the Thornden campus were all taken tripod mounted, natural light and with the versatile 17-400mm lens. The client had asked for wide shots of the rooms, individual furniture photos as well as some detailed images showing the finish and other aspects of the bespoke furniture. The second building was more of a challenge as the sun had appeared creating harsh shadows in some of the larger rooms and with this in mind I used the 600 Speed Lite to fill the shadowed areas and balance the lighting more, with the white walls and ceilings acting as a large reflector for the flash to bounce off. I used as ever the manual controls to give the interiors as much of a natural look as possible with the artificial light.
