The first was for Car and Classic in the guise of a champagne gold Mercedes 230 E saloon, the owner lived a stones throw from Margate seafront and against the backdrop of the sea it provided the perfect setting for the eighties classic to stand out. Although the cars is now forty years old it had shown just how solid these German cars were when first built.

The second was a newer Alpina F10 D5, the tuning company now owned by BMW have taken a donor 535 diesel and added there own styling tweaks and badges along with an increase in power to 347bhp and an impressive 516lb-ft of peak torque. The car can hit 0-60 in 5.1 seconds and hit a top speed of 171 mph, not bad for a comfy four door diesel saloon. This car is now live on the Collecting Cars website and closes on Wednesday evening for bids.
