AVANTE AND UNIVERSITY CENTRE FOLKESTONE PHOTOGRAPHY

13/05/2013
The great thing about photography is that it is so diverse, today was no exception with a group of elderly dementia residents having high tea followed by job about a theatre production about Victorian society and sexuality in that era, some of the scenes were a bit of a a shock after just having tea and scones with a group of old aged pensioners.

The Bridgewood Manor Hotel had invited Avante to bring along three groups of residents for the afternoon tea service, they were all in good spirits and the photos will be used for the companies press and website. The 70-200mm lens was ideal to capture the staff and residents from a distance so I didn't intrude on their enjoyment. Next stop Folkestone to cover the Universitys dress rehearsal for tomorrows production of Cloud 9, the Quarterhouse is a venue I know well and with the set dressed and lighting techs on site it was a very relaxed end to the day, although the various acts of sexual activity between some cast members was a bit of a shock! With bright stage lighting I set the camera in to manual mode and 1/100 @ F4 ISO 1000 gave me some underexposed images which gave me good exposures on the actors faces and cut down on yhe backdrop making the cast stand out, 24-70mm lens worked a treat as I was able ro be right at the foot of the stage to get some close and wide angled photos.
