BRITISH BEER AND PUB CHEF COMPETITION

25/01/2018
The British Beer & Pub Association is the leading body representing Britain’s brewers and pub companies. The Association is more than a century old and was originally founded as the Brewers’ Society in 1904. Their members account for some 90% of beer brewed in Britain today, and around half of the nation’s pubs. These members are also diverse in their activity – from international brewers, to market-leading managed pub companies, the nation’s largest tenanted pub companies and historic family brewers.

The Masterchef style competition had eight chefs competing for the coveted prize of cooking for a select group next month at the House of Lords, a winner will be selected from the young chefs and over 30's group. The judges were from various hospitality backgrounds, including TV Chef Paul Merrett. The Chefs had one hour to provide a main course that worked on taste, presentation and the use of ingredients that were available to them.

As well as photography a videographer was also present, the winners will be announced shortly and I will then make a trip to the House of Commons to document the evenings events. For the documentary photography I used the 50mm Sigma prime Art lens, perfect for this event as I could move around freely to capture wider scenes or crop in close. The 70-200mm also gave me the option to stand back and not get in the Chefs way.
