WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY WEBSITE IN KENT & THE UK

17/12/2013
I decided recently to market the wedding photography business again, most commercial work takes place in the week so weddings don't generally conflict with my main photography work, plus they are usually booked months and sometimes years ahead. I am limiting the number of weddings I cover each year to a dozen, with all of the commercial photography work that I cover this is adequate in terms of that precious work/balance lifestyle, plus the variety of weddings I am covering now are not just in Kent but London, Oxford and Surrey so travel plays a part in the planning.

I decided for the first time since I set my photography business up t have the website created by a third party, Martin and Kieran from MPJ Design have been friends and clients for a number of years and after an initial meeting about the appearance and usability of the site I knew that they would deliver the site that I was after. The website name was the first decision to be made, so as the main site is Jason Dodd Photography we went for Jasondodd.co.uk, nice and simple as the name links both ways. After covering a lot of research with the developers on other wedding photography webistes we can to the decision that less is more, navigation plays such a key part to websites these days and if a bride can't locate the information that she is after then they will move on to the next site on Google's list.

A simple one page that scrolled down for information and photos that can be navigated horizontally would work simply and effectively, plus it looked clean and fresh. MPJ Design also made sure the site would work across various platforms, including mobiles, tablets and a variety of different sized screens so that the website would always look in proportion. The font was important as well and different from Futura that I currently use, Martin found Halis Grotesque which gave a modern feel and also looked good in the pastel colour schemes that we used. With quick link buttons to social media on the site and a few minor alterations the site is now up and running. Great work from the team at MPJ Design, the wedding photography site can be found Visit jasondodd
