KENT YOUTH ORCHESTRA 50TH ANNIVERSARY PHOTOGRAPHY

07/09/2013
The evening was hosted by Classic FM presenter Tommy Pearson who had also been a former member of the Kent County Youth Orchestra. The concert also featured composer Ben Oliver and jazz pianist Ivo Neame in a special piece that had been conducted for the anniversary. The evening ended in spectacular fashion with Beethoven's Symphony No 9, the KCYO and the Kent County singers were joined by soprano Julia Sporsen, Mezzo Tania Holland, tenor James Edwards and bass Simon Thorpe along with a choir of over 160 singers from the county.

The Mote Hall venue in Maidstone was a large space and the lighting was even across the orchestra, I had to be discreet so the 70-200mm was used on the 5D 3 and 1D 4, the 5D initially for the orchestra arriving and setting up, this was before the stage lighting had been turned on so the cameras low light capabilities were put to the test. In the second half of the concert I had a low down position to the right of the orchestra which allowed for some profile photos of the conductor and musicians.
