KENT UNIVERSITY LECTURER PORTRAITS

04/07/2013
The photographs are for the University and are to be used by its marketing and press officers to go alongside press releases or when they wish to send quotes out to various industry publications. With this in mind their needed to be some straight forward head shots but otherwise the other images could be a little left field, I used a mix of backdrops, including the long white corridors in the bioscience department, the grounds around the University, coffee shops and other areas that provided splashes of colour. I used the 50mm 1.2 lens and a reflector, this would blur the background as I was shooting between 1.4 to 2.5 in most cases, the softness in the background looks great and also allows text to be put in certain areas for editorial use. My favourite shot of the day was of Dr George Conyne, an American who lectures in American History, he felt comfortable having his photo taken whilst talking, his full length photo shown looks like he is on an election campaign, great fun to work with and a real character. Looking forward to tomorrows shoot.
