LAUNCHFEST 2013 CHRIST CHURCH UNIVERSITY MUSIC PHOTOGRAPHY

26/09/2013
Today I was covering three events, the first was the Apollo Chamber ensemble performing some of Mozart's most celebratory works in the St Gregory's Centre for music. The second performance was a real test for the 1DX, a Kynaections multimedia performance which combined two dance students and projected 3D lighting displays, the only light I had to work with was the beams coming from the overhead projector, even pushing up to ISO 8000 the camera coped amazingly well and with the advanced autofocusing system was still able to focus on the dancers as they weaved through the beams.

The evening saw a gig by staff and students from the commercial music department, this was alos an opportunity to test the new Anselm Studios facility out, with the venue packed with staff, students and guests the band covered a mix of classics to modern songs. The lighting was a mixture of colours and with the camera set to manual (1/100 @ F$ ISO 1600) the 24-70mm lens provided some tighter and wide angle photos to highlight the space in the venue. I ended up the first part of the set with the 135mm lens which gave some great head shots of the band performing. Their are a host of musical events on over the weekend, well worth a visit.
