The Shard is an iconic, landmark building on the London skyline, designed by Master Architect Renzo Piano. At a height of 1,016ft (310m), the tallest building in Western Europe, The Shard redefines London’s skyline and will be a dynamic symbol of London, recognisable throughout the world.

The View is situated at the top of The Shard, on floors 68, 69 and 72, and almost twice the height of any other viewing platform in London. The building is turning out to be an iconic symbol of the capital and with this in mind I used it as the basis for some stock photography in London today... ...more

Situated in Butchery Lane, once called Golden Angel Lane until the statue of an angel was stolen in the 18th century, The Shakespeare has long been a favourite place for wandering minstrels and monks alike. Built in 1504 it was originally a theatre, or playhouse and is the only surviving tudor example after Oliver Cromwell had most of the theatres in England razed to the ground. Wilton House has been the seat of the Herbert family, the Earls of Pembroke, since 1544, when the buildings and estate were granted by Henry VIII to Sir William Herbert, soon to be created 1st Earl of Pembroke. After a lifespan of ten years Canon towards the end of last year replaced the most popular lens around, the 24-70mm F2.8 L series optic. The surprise announcement wasn't aimed towards the compactness, quality and design but the hefty £2200 price tag that was attached with the lens, almost double the price of the previous model. So after allowing the market to settle for a few months and reading some great reviews on the lens I purchased the mark 2 from Park Cameras this week, at just under £1700 it seemed a more reasonable price to pay... ...more

One hundred years ago at Brooklands, on Saturday 15th February 1913, Percy Lambert, driving a 25 hp “Invincible Talbot” became the first person on earth to travel over 100 miles in one hour. To mark the centenary of this extraordinary achievement, today a group of Talbot and other historic cars will attempt to cover an aggregate 103.76 miles (the exact distance covered by Lambert) at Brooklands.
