The Shard is an iconic, landmark building on the London skyline, designed by Master Architect Renzo Piano. At a height of 1,016ft (310m), the tallest building in Western Europe, The Shard redefines London’s skyline and will be a dynamic symbol of London, recognisable throughout the world.

The View is situated at the top of The Shard, on floors 68, 69 and 72, and almost twice the height of any other viewing platform in London. After a lifespan of ten years Canon towards the end of last year replaced the most popular lens around, the 24-70mm F2.8 L series optic. The surprise announcement wasn't aimed towards the compactness, quality and design but the hefty £2200 price tag that was attached with the lens, almost double the price of the previous model. So after allowing the market to settle for a few months and reading some great reviews on the lens I purchased the mark 2 from Park Cameras this week, at just under £1700 it seemed a more reasonable price to pay... ...more
