After a lifespan of ten years Canon towards the end of last year replaced the most popular lens around, the 24-70mm F2.8 L series optic. The surprise announcement wasn't aimed towards the compactness, quality and design but the hefty £2200 price tag that was attached with the lens, almost double the price of the previous model. One hundred years ago at Brooklands, on Saturday 15th February 1913, Percy Lambert, driving a 25 hp “Invincible Talbot” became the first person on earth to travel over 100 miles in one hour.
