MONIN PHOTOGRAPHY BATTERY CLUB CANARY WHARF

Article text
The third floor of the Battery club in Canary Wharf was the location for the ongoing series of photographs for French syrup company Monin in their meet the waiter series. Michael Stringer was the waiter for the photographs today and had two cocktail recipes for the shoot. I met Michael last year during the Monin national finals that took place at the LAB bar in London, he shocked the judges with his fire extinguisher which produced a Heston Blumenthal style cocktail creation with dry ice, so no surprise that he chose to use this same technique for today's second cocktail.

The photos of Michael making the drinks were taken with the 50mm 1.2, although the bar area was dark the lens worked as well as ever at ISO 800 wide open. Once the drinks had been created the 24-70mm was fitted on to the 1D body and set up on the tripod, two speed lights, left and right of camera lit Michael and the bar area, a third off camera 270 flashgun lit the back of he bar, settings were 1/125 @ F11 ISO 500, creeping the ISO up just brought in a little more ambient light. Looking forward to returning to Canary Wharf next week when it hosts the Moto Expo car show.
